The Municipality of El Nido is a first class municipality and managed resource protected area in the province of Palawan in the Philippines. It is about 420 kilometers southwest of Manila, and about 238 kilometers northeast of Puerto Princesa.

The municipality, covering a land area of 465.10 square kilometers in the northernmost tip of mainland Palawan, is bordered by the Linapacan Strait in the north, the Sulu Sea in the east, and the South China Sea in the west. Honda Bay, Palawan, Philippines

Despite its outstanding natural beauty, Palawan's 1,770 islands have been one of the least developed holiday destinations in Southeast Asia [apart from the famous El Nido Resorts].

So far the lack of commercialism has made Palawan very special, but it is becoming more popular particularly for international divers, as well as adventurers.

The ideal place for sun seekers and snorkellers is Honda Bay, which has several islets including Cannon Island, Bat Island and Starfish Island, with coral reefs breaking crystal clear water onto empty, fine white sand beaches.

"To enjoy the calmness of the surrounding Palawan is the best place to visit, far from the busy streets of the metropolitan. It is where you can enjoy and relax"

Amanpulo - Palawan

Amanpulo is an escape from the markings of mankind and is a dive into island life where nature has been unashamedly boastful. The island is secluded, being private, and offers a variety of sea, sand and tropical island-retreat–pleasures, in exclusive comfort and in traditionally styled accommodation. Amanpulo or, ‘peaceful island’, honours its island host, respecting the natural elements with a profoundly ‘South Seas’ interpretation. The 40 Beach, Hillside and Treetop Casitas are modelled on authentic bahay kubo dwellings, each with its own golf cart for island exploration.

This romantically remote island caters for those who wish to ‘hammock’ and beach comb their days in paradise, and for those who seek an active agenda, involving a myriad of maritime adventures as well as tennis, a high-tec air-conditioned gym, and taking languid lengths in the resort’s 30m serene pool. The open-air Garden and Beach Salas are discreetly secluded for pleasurable holistic body treatments.

"Amanpulo is a hidden paradise in the island of Palawan. It is the place were the rich and the famous spend there vacations. "

Cacao Pearl - a luxury eco resort

by Jessica

This week, a surprising eco endeavor was announced in the travel arena: the world’s first non-profit, green resort community, which will be built on a 124-acre private island on the northern tip of the Palawan Biosphere Reserve in the Philippines.

The Cacao Pearl, Palawan, is raising eyebrows with a hearty commitment to donate 100 percent of operating profits to local environment protection and social improvements.

The upscale resort, complete with an infinity pool, spa, and organic gardens and bar, was designed exclusively for Cacao Resorts by former film art director Antonio Calvo (think “Pride & Prejudice” and “Love Actually”) and will be developed using sustainable construction, ethical management practices and ecologically responsible operations. At the end of the day, 100 percent renewable energy and operating profits will be funneled back into the local community.

"Cacao pearl would be a best place to enjoy the beauty of nature at a very low environmental cost"
